1. What We Mean by “Cookies”
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, remember your preferences, and tell site operators how their site is being used.
Suru also relies on related browser storage technologies — chiefly local storage and session storage — to keep you signed in and to remember small preferences. Where we say “cookies” in this policy, we mean cookies and these similar technologies unless we say otherwise.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for Suru to work. Without them you cannot sign in, stay signed in across page loads, or use core features. They are set automatically and do not require your consent.
This category includes:
- Authentication tokens stored in browser storage by our authentication provider, used to keep you signed in.
- A small UI cookie that remembers whether the in-app sidebar is open or collapsed.
2.2 Functional
These remember small choices you make so you do not have to re-enter them every time. For example, Suru remembers your last-used byline in your browser so it pre-fills when you start a new capture.
2.3 Analytics
We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand which features are used and where users get stuck, so we can improve Suru. The data is aggregated and is not shared with advertising networks. If and when analytics are enabled in your browser, you will be asked for consent first.
2.4 Third-party services
Some features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies on the pages where those features appear:
- Stripe — when payments are enabled, Stripe may set cookies to detect fraud and secure transactions. These are governed by Stripe’s own privacy and cookie policies.
- Infrastructure providers — our hosting, storage and AI providers may set technical cookies as part of delivering the service.
Suru does not serve advertising and does not set or share data with advertising cookies.
3. Consent
Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because Suru cannot function without them. For functional and analytics cookies that require consent under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we will ask you on your first visit and let you change your mind later.
Withdrawing consent for non-essential cookies will not stop you using Suru, but some preferences may not be remembered between sessions.
4. Managing Cookies
4.1 In your browser
All major browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them, block third-party cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or block them entirely. You can also clear cookies and local storage when you close the browser.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies and storage will prevent you from signing in to Suru. For step-by-step guidance, see your browser’s help pages or allaboutcookies.org.
4.2 Opting out of analytics
If analytics are enabled on your account, you can opt out through your browser’s Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control setting, or by declining analytics in the consent prompt. We will surface an in-app cookie preferences panel as part of our consent rollout.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as Suru evolves or as legal requirements change. We will notify you of material changes via a notice on the platform or by email, and the effective date above will be updated.
